Blank Screen When Editing a Page

Modified on Sun, 24 May at 4:19 PM

Occasionally, after a major system update, your web browser might hold onto an outdated, invisible login file (called a "cookie"). When this happens, the website tries to load the page editor but gets confused by the old file, resulting in a completely blank white screen.

Your website and all of your content are perfectly safe. Here is how to clear the glitch.

Phase 1: The Quick Test

Before making any changes, let's confirm your browser is the culprit.

  1. Open a "Private" or "Incognito" window in your web browser.

  2. Log into the website dashboard normally.

  3. Try to edit a page.

  4. If the editor loads perfectly in this private window, close it and proceed to Phase 2 to fix your normal browser.

Phase 2: The Permanent Fix

You do not need to clear your entire browser history or lose your saved passwords. You only need to clear the specific data for our website.

If you use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open your normal browser and go to the website dashboard.

  2. Look at the web address bar at the very top of the screen.

  3. Click the small Padlock or Settings icon located immediately to the left of the website URL.

  4. Select Cookies and site data from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click Manage on-device site data.

  6. Click the Trash Can icon next to our website's name to delete the saved files.

  7. Refresh the page. You will be asked to log in one more time, and the editor will now load perfectly.

If you use Safari (Mac):

  1. Open Safari, click Safari in the top-left menu bar, and select Settings (or Preferences).

  2. Click on the Privacy tab.

  3. Click the Manage Website Data button.

  4. Type our website's name into the search bar inside the popup window.

  5. Select the website from the list and click Remove.

  6. Click Done, close the settings, and refresh the website.
